HomeMission Road Ramble

Sadly, the Mission Road Ramble, which was scheduled to take placeSunday, February 18, 2018, has been canceled due to complications getting the route approved through the Tohono O'dham Nation. There are no plans to reschedule it this year, as the GABA Supported Rides Calendar is full.

We, at GABA and Supported Rides, are disappointed with the outcome from the effort put into organizing this ride from the Summer of 2017 to now, contacting the appropriate departments and agencies needed to approve and support this ride. The Supported Rides Team will work to bring this ride or another to ride to the GABA Ride Calendar for 2019.

Mission Road Ramble  CANCELED
Sunday, February 18, 2018
Distances: 70 mile Loop/Out & Back, 37 mile Out & Back
Start/Finish: Casino Del Sol Resort, East Parking Lot, 5655 W. Valencia Road, Tucson, Arizona 85757

Mission Road is a popular route for many cyclists in Tucson. Some of the route is the Tucson Bicycle Classic Shootout route, however, this is a recreational ride, not a race. The route travels through the San Xavier Indian reservation to Green Valley and Sahaurita, up Helmet Peak and back to Casino Del Sol Resort.

COURSE OVERVIEW & MAPS

We will provide one support and gear station (SAG) station for both the 37 mile and 70 mile distances where you can refuel with fruit, water, sports drinks, snacks, and sandwiches. Back at the finish, we'll have Subway sandwiches for lunch, along with fruit, snacks, water, and sports drinks.

There will be three Sweep vehicles on the routes providing mechanical support, and first aid if necessary. Each vehicle will be marked with a yellow magnetic sign that reads, "SUPPORT VEHICLE".

Watch for GABA signs indicating all the turns of the course and turnaround points. If you want a paper map & cue sheet, please follow the links below and print from home to bring with you on your ride.  Limited number of maps & cue sheets at rider check in/registration.

Volunteer Opportunity

To have successful rides, we need members to volunteer to help with check-in/registration before the ride, operate a SAG stop, or drive a sweep vehicle to help cyclists. Learn more on the GABA Volunteering page and send questions to our Volunteer Coordinator, Pam Cullop via volunteer@bikegaba.org.

Thanks and hope to see you on the ride!                         Volunteer Now!
